I learned recently that the Lake Shastina Police Department will watch your home for you if you take a vacation. All you have to do is call 938-2226 and give your address and the dates you will be gone. The service is free and even though we have very little crime here it's nice to know somebody is watching out for you.
By the way, be sure to call them BACK when you get home. I forgot and the police chief himself called to be sure we were after seeing my car in the drive.
